It happened to me—in fact, it happened just today!

I have a writing project I’m working on—a devotional for little girls.  My sister-in-law had the day off work and offered to take my four homeschooled kids and do projects with them.  I had the day to work at home with no interruptions.  Oh my, have I died and gone to heaven? 

I dropped my kids off and came straight back home to work on my project.  Now, this project takes a lot of mental energy and research.  So, for the first hour I found myself procrastinating.  Yikes—I hate when I do that!  I found some laundry to fold; then I went to the refrigerator (can’t write on an empty stomach you know!).  Of course, I can never eat chocolate without my kids sniffing it out from fifty miles away—so I broke out the chocolate candy to very selfishly eat the whole thing by myself (man was it ever good; it’s been ages since I ate a whole candy bar without someone begging and pleading for “just a little bite”!).  Of course, I had to check emails---I even read a few pieces of junk email, which I NEVER do!  I consider that next to a sin---reading something that isn’t going to help me personally grow and develop! 

All of a sudden, I realized what I was doing!  I was stopping the starting process.  Once I MADE myself sit down and write, a multitude of ideas started flowing.  It energized me.  I sat for four hours and wrote—totally focused.  It was energizing.  I was making progress---but oh the thought of starting was agonizing!

How about you—are you stopping the starting process with your business?  Are you finding 576 different things to do besides picking up your phone to schedule parties?  Are you sitting down to watch just 15 minutes of a television program and two hours later, you’re still there?

What exactly happens when you procrastinate?  It drains you.  It causes you to feel guilty.  It puts you on an emotional roller coaster.  It’s not fun to live your life that way.  In fact, I don’t believe you were intended to live that kind of life at all. 

I believe you were created to live a rich life beyond what you could imagine if you would just start!  Just start making phone calls.  Just start meeting with potential recruits.  Just start talking about your business to everyone.  Just start selling like crazy.  Just start doing whatever it takes to earn that company incentive trip or reward.  Just start!  Don’t stop the starting process. 

Once you get started, you’ll make progress.  Making progress causes you to feel energized.  Feeling energized helps you to focus.  Focusing brings about results! 

Go ahead—just start!
